It's Time… Lysis Time
New products and papers:
Hyphen Biomed have just notified us of a new paper entitled: "Lysis Timer: a new sensitive tool to diagnose hyperfibrinolysis in liver transplantation" Roullet S, et al. J Clin Pathol 2018;0:1–8. doi:10.1136/jclinpath-2018-205280 The Lysis Timer is a device developed by Hyphen. It may be used to perform a rapid test in plasma, the 'global fibrinolytic capacity (GFC). The aim of this study was to evaluate the ability of GFC to recognise hyperfibrinolysis during orthotopic liver transplant (OLT). Also to compare its results with ROTEM maximum lysis and with standard laboratory tests. The paper concluded that GFC recognised hyperfibrinolysis during OLT with a significant agreement with the other tests of fibrinolysis. and… A paper in support of chromogenic FIX assays: "Evaluation of chromogenic factor IX assays by automated protocols" G. W. Kershaw et al. Haemophilia. 2018;1–10.
We have been checking the specificity of DOAC-Stop to ensure its safety and our latest publication is now available in Clinical Chemistry Laboratory Medicine Journal: "Effect of an activated charcoal product (DOAC Stop™) intended for extracting DOACs on various other APTT-prolonging anticoagulants." Clin Chem Lab Med. 2018 Nov 14 T.Exner, M.Ahuja, L.Ellwood The article concludes that the AC-based product extracted DOACs efficiently with no effect on heparin-type anticoagulants. It does bind argatroban and hirudin-type anticoagulants, which might occur in plasmas from some inpatients, and APTT results obtained after its use should be interpreted after due consideration of patient medications.
New PT reagent with ISI 1.0
In early 2019, we are looking forward to the release of an improved Hyphen Biomed PT reagent, designed with human recombinant Tissue Factor, using a clotting method, manual or automated. ISI value is 1.00 ± 0.10, and a MNPT is 11.0 sec ± 1.0 sec on chromogenic clot detection instruments (such as Sysmex CS-series), and very close to these values on mechanical clot detection systems. Three sizes will be available (12 x 4ml, 12 x 8ml and 12 x 18ml) and they will have ARTG status approval.
