Unexpected, Isolated, Prolonged APTT?

Find out if its heparin contamination fast

Heparin Contamination & APTT Testing

UFH contamination in APTT (activated partial thromboplastin time) testing is a significant issue that can affect the accuracy of test results in clinical laboratories. Heparin contamination can lead to falsely prolonged APTT results, which then require further investigation.

Sources of Heparin Contamination include :
- Heparin-Coated Collection Tubes or Syringes / Improper Mixing,
- Heparin Flushes,
- Heparin Locks,
- Patient History,
- Contaminated Equipment / Lab Error.

The Solution: Antihepca™-HRRS

Anithepca™-HRRS is a solution which is introduced to the plasma sample during the recalcification stage of the APTT test. By using Antihepca™-HRRS the anticoagulant effects of heparin are eliminated in the sample, allowing for accurate measurement of the patient's coagulation parameters. Antihepca™-HRRS can also be used in KCT and SACT tests. Lupus anticoagulant ratios, and other clotting factors are unaffected by Antihepca™-HRRS, allowing for further testing after heparin is neutralized.
