BIOPHEN FVIII variant (Emicizumab insensitive)
A new chromogenic method for the in vitro quantitative determination of Factor FVIII activity is currently available as RUO with ARTG listing in progress.
This reagent measures the Factor VIII activity as does the BIOPHEN FVIII:C (#221402/ #221406) but is Emicizumab insensitive. It therefore allows measuring the inhibitory activity of anti-FVIII antibodies developed in haemophiliacs treated with Emicizumab and titrating their potency.
Tea with Tom
Episode 6, Tom talks about the problem of Heparin contamination in APTT testing. A previous study (link below) showed that heparin was responsible for 39% of unexpectedly prolonged APTT tests in patient samples where the patient was not taking heparin (or warfarin). Haematex offers HRRS/Antihepca for neutralizing heparin. It replaces the usual M/40 calcium chloride solution in APTT and KCT tests to virtually eliminate the effect of unfractionated heparin concentrations up to 1 u/ml in normal plasma.
